What's New

Over the past few years, Maple Press has invested upwards of $10 million on new equipment and upgrades to our machinery and processes. The publishing industry continues to face challenges and adapting to the changes in demand for different products and services have led to finding equipment to continue to offer our loyal customers higher quality books more efficiently and as quickly as possible. Listed here are some of the highlights from the past year.

Canon Varioprint 6330 Digital Black Toner Presses

Maple Press has supported short run digital printing for nearly two decades. We have just brought on two new Canon Varioprint 6330 digital black and white toner presses. High quality printing with the ability to print from rolls or sheets gives us flexibility to produce single copies to support our POD program up to hundreds of copies for our Digital ShortRun program. Short run printing has evolved over the years and many publishers we work with produce first runs via these machines. The ability to print in quantities that align directly with sales forecasts and reprint quickly when needed creates a highly sustainable workflow.

KONICA MINOLTA ACURIOJET KM-1e Color Inkjet Press

After a couple of years of very successful production on our one-color HP T260 Inkjet Press and in order to cater to the higher quality and quantity needs of our customers, Maple Press invested in a new KM-1e full color inkjet press. This press is able to produce extremely high quality full color printing for covers, printed cases, jackets, and inserts. The colors are vibrant and consistent and the digital nature of the press enables us to be able to provide a full one-off printing with lamination for approval before we produce the full run.

KDX KS-800 Laminator

With the addition of the KM-1e color inkjet press, we needed to upgrade our lamination machinery and we brought in a new KDX laminator. This machine is larger and much faster than the laminators we previously ran. The combination of this machine and the KM-1e being able to handle a larger volume of work enables Maple Press to control the schedules, provide high quality exact proofs, and creates efficiencies in our scheduling processes to keep work on time.

MULLER-MARTINI DIAMANT MC CASE BINDING LINE

Maple Press has been a high-quality manufacturer of casebound books for many decades. There are a great number of craftspeople and machines that contribute to the process of making a casebound book. The new Muller-Martini Diamant Case Binding Line is a superb piece of engineering that embodies the craft of bookmaking with today’s technology to enable more efficient book block loading, faster makereadies, and beautifully bound books. In combination with our Kolbus Case Binding line, our capacity to handle additional hardcover volume has improved allowing us to broaden our range of customers.
